2016 Oakland International Film Festival Opening Night
For spring 2016, the JPRI Professor Yuan-li Wu Economics Speaker Series is pleased to partner with the Oakland Film Society to present the opening night program of the 14th annual Oakland International Film Festival (OIFF). This program will offer an amazing film, conversations with the filmmaker and festival director, live Cuban music, and a catered reception.
Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Eugene Corr presents his latest film, the beautiful and contemplative feature-length documentary Ghost Town to Havana—which takes youth baseball as a vantage point to explore issues of community building and mentoring, cultural exchange and friendship, alternative socio-economic systems amidst globalization, and much more.
